GSI Outdoors Camp Gourmet Kitchen

My favorite peice of camping equipment. Everyone that walked by our site was interested in it. For the most part it was built very well, except for the legs. Legs were very week and wobbely, which it weird, because the rest of it was very sturdy. After our 1st trip, we reinforsed the legs by putting PVC piping over them. After that I had no complaints.

My husband and I camp quite a bit, and I always hated having to haul dirty dishes to the water source. The double sink in this camp kitchen allows me to put soapy water in one side and rinse water in the other. Although I have not used the pump feature, I find the sinks are easy to empty into any handy container to dump in a safe spot. In addition to the sinks, I love having a place to store all my cooking gear, and the drying rack is so much better than laying everything out on another surface (like a picnic table.) The sinks have two plastic covers that can be used as cutting boards or food prep surfaces, a very handy feature. I put S hooks on the rack over the sink and hang towels, utensils and other implements, and hook a garbage bag over one corner. The only criticism I have is that the metal legs on the extension piece are not very sturdy, so the extension can be a bit wobbly. We use this every time we camp longer than overnight - for overnight trips, it's a bit too much trouble to set up and take down.

This kitchen it great! It has plenty of space for all of your cooking gear, plates, stove, etc. I love the shelf underneath the sinks as it gives so much more room on the top for food preparation. I did bring my own cutting boards as I didn't want to scratch up the ones that come with the kitchen. The pressurized water system is great, but it has one flaw. When you pump up the water bag (with the foot pump), the water continues to flow even after you stop as there is no shut off valve for the fauacet. I simply went to the hardware store and got one of those sprayers which most sinks have. It has its own shut off lever, so I can pump it up and just release the water when I need it. It's easy for my 4 and 7 year old to use, too. I can't wait to use it again.

The legs that attach to the sink section have are plastic screw type and made the sink very wobbly. The extended shelf section was not sturdy enough then to hold a stove or grill and actually pulled on the plastic sink and made an impression. The water system worked however cannot be used with solid water jugs as seen in other photos. The connections for the water system were push on not screw on and were hard to connect. This was not a typical GSI product. Not a good design. I called GSI as well and gave them this review. I purchased this from another store and they are refunding me.

I was REALLY looking forward to receiving this item for the camping trips we have planned this summer. When it finally arrived I was happy to see that it was a decent size. The construction *seemed* to be really nice too. We set it up in the living room to check it out and noticed that the leg joints for the main section (not the wire stove counter section) were in two pieces, put together via plastic joints. After moving the table in the room, two of the legs broke. The plastic plugs came out of the metal tube and bent the metal so that putting the leg back in was a bad fit. Now, I have wood floors and I was really surprised that the small amount of pressure applied would break the table legs so easily. If I'd had carpets, I could see the legs getting stuck in the piling and forcing the break. But it's absolutely ridiculous that the legs should break so easily. So for future purchasers of this item, please remember that you will need two people to move it by lifting it on all sides before putting it back down again.
