Excellent particularly at its low price.
I have a stabilty problem and the hiking poles help a lot in walking. There was a recent article in the FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) magazine singing the praises of all the additional health benefits these trakking poles have.
The only critcism I have from ordering via Amazon was there was no way I could select black rather than red, so I have gregarious red.

Great for the Price
Looks like this is what I need for short hikes. A little on the heavy side, but good for day hikes.

Cheap and functional
We bought a pair of these at WalMart on a whim since they were so darn cheap! We used them on the Appalachian Trail and on a hiking trip through the Swiss Alps. They work great and have held up fine under rather stressful conditions. While they're a bit heavier than the fancy name-brand poles, they're no less rugged and only a fraction the cost. What's not to like?

Excellent for Bush Whacking
My primary use for this was to give me something to help me stay upright during geocaching, and to have something for bushwhacking. If you are into Geocaching you will understand! [...]

After falling down the side of a hill and getting a bit scratched up, getting this Hiking Pole has worked very well to keep me balanced in weird places. Also, it's handy for moving branches out of the way (i.e. bushwhacking) when necessary!
